Classes include an interactive learning experience, sampling of yummy food and a take home sample. Classes are $40/person and are presented from the Grano de Vida home office in Chandler.

Summer heat in my garden means huge quantities of lush organic basil. This year I am growing three different types, including a Lime Basil. So what do I do with all that basil? I fill my freezer with jars of delicious, garlicy, two cheese pesto. Pesto adds incredible flavor to sandwiches, grilled chicken, pizza, or tossed on your favorite pasta. A simple Marinara Sauce, with handfuls of tasty garden basil can also be poured into quart size jars for freezing. For a quick satisfying weeknight meal, marinara sauce tastes great on pasta, but it also is a great start to a quick winter tomato basil soup. Both fresh basil pesto and marinara sauce tastes incredible on fresh homemade egg noodle pasta. Come and join me as I demonstrate these three melt-in-your-mouth recipes at my Grano Basil Cooking Class! As I cook, students will observe, sample , and be able to ask questions. Each participant will take home copies of the recipes, (pesto, marinara sauce, and egg pasta) and take home either a quart size jar of marinara sauce, or an 8oz. jar of pesto.

There is nothing like the wonderful aroma of fresh baked crusty bread flowing throughout every room of your home. This is going to be a FUN and educational class where we will learn all the simple steps (I mean VERY simple) to making a beautifully stunning no-knead crusty sourdough bread. First, all students will take a small lump of my sour starter and add it to their own jars to make and take home to begin their own creations. You will learn how to feed it and even how to put it to sleep for times of vacation. Next, students will begin their own Hearth Sourdough which will be taken home to bake and fill your own home with amazing smells. I will teach you all the techniques and secrets to creating a crusty crunchy crust and a chewy crumb in your home oven, inside of a dutch oven. Finally, we will create, bake, and eat the most amazing soft sourdough Pretzels. The texture and flavor pops in your mouth. Come for a fun inspiring experience and learn to make your own stunning sourdoughs. Each student will take home their own starter, a hearth loaf to bake at home, and all the recipes to get you started. Sourdough takes time, so this will be a 3 hour class, cost is $50.
One of my favorite things to do is cook for my family, and then sit, wait, and watch them take that very first bite...... “Do you love it?”, “What do you think?”, “Should I make this again?” I am like a little girl excited with anticipation, just waiting to hear those words, “This is yummy, you should make this recipe again.” When I first made meatballs in a Simple Marinara Sauce, served on toasted Ciabatta rolls, those wonderful anticipated words came out of everyones mouth, “WOW Mom! this is good, you need to make this again.” Fresh Ciabatta rolls are airy and chewy. The perfect start to any sandwich. Although taking over twenty hours to complete, you will watch me demonstrate every step, even the baked rolls emerging with heavenly smells out of the oven. Grano Italian Meatballs are bursting with incredible flavors. Made with two types of ground meats, two Italian cheeses, fresh garden herbs, and chopped garlic. We will prepare these meatballs and drop them into a simmering bath of Simple Marinara sauce. The Ciabatta rolls will be toasted up in anticipation of these saucey meatballs. After shaping the meatballs, I will show you how you can take a portion and freeze them prior to cooking for a quick tasty weeknight meal. A simple Marinara Sauce, with handfuls of tasty garden basil can also be poured into quart size jars for freezing. Marinara sauce tastes great on pasta, but it also is a great start to a quick winter tomato basil soup. As I cook, students will observe, participate, and sample Grano foods. Each participant will take home copies of the recipes.. Ciabatta Rolls, Grano Italian Meatballs and Simple Marinara Sauce, and a bag of ciabatta rolls.

One of the most enjoyable ways to begin a romantic evening is cooking together in the kitchen, which is why this class will be for you and your true love. This is a hands-on date night cooking class. We will begin the evening with two delicious appetizers. miniature ciabatta rolls are sliced open, lightly grilled, then stuffed with mouthwatering Italian ingredients. Next, each couple will work together, hands-on, rolling out and creating hand made egg noodles. We will then put together a fresh tasty marinade which will be the sauce for our pasta and an amazing seasoning for the fresh grilled veggies. Finally, no meal is complete without dessert. Using fresh peaches, ordered straight from Utah, each couple, along with myself, will construct and bake a Galette to take home. We will then cut into, and enjoy an already completed Galette. Come be inspired and enjoy an evening of fun and laughter. Each student will enjoy feasting on all recipes, receive copies of all recipes, and take home their fresh baked Galette to enjoy later. $45/per person

I know it is June, way too early to even want to think about Christmas, but just imagine by the end of July you can have that Christmas list complete with extraordinary gifts to give to your special friends. Giving gifts made by you, tells your friends they are special. The best part, you will not have to spend hours and hours in your kitchen.
In this class we will be making Homemade Madagascar Vanilla Extract. With vanilla, achieving that depth of flavor that borders on decadence, takes a bit of curing time.....So, let’s get started. We will then create a sensational Grainy Rustic Dijon Mustard that begins with 2 different kinds of mustard seeds. While exploring the different characteristics of mustard seeds, you can decide how you will design your mustard at home. Next, we will make light and flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows. There are countless ways to incorporate these pillowy bites into fun Christmas gifts that will tell your friends they are special...A hot chocolate and mug set or maybe a ready to make s’mores gift box. We will end this Christmas class with Buttery, Crunchy, miniature Shortbread tarts made with organic jam. You get to make the call on this one, any flavor of jam works great!!!
Come learn how you can be “Girl Scout Prepared” this holiday season. Each student will enjoy sampling all these yummy recipes, along with copies of the recipes and ideas to take home. You will also take home a miniature Shortbread Tart which you create yourself.

Easy Summer Grilled Sandwich. Orzo Salad.
When warm weather comes, our meal menus change. Who likes to be in a hot kitchen one or two hours every evening just to serve up a nutritious meal for your family? NOT ME!!! During the summer most of our family meals are grilled or cooked on our outdoor grill. In this class we will grind Hayden Flour Mills wheat berries into flour. We will then make nourishing whole wheat bagels which we will then turn into a grilled mouthwatering sandwich. I will also share one of our families favorite side salads, Italian Orzo Salad. This will be a hands on class, so bring your apron. We will make an abundance of bagels so the technique of shaping bagels will be mastered. Come learn how to make these incredible bagels. Class includes grinding fresh flour, hands-on bagel shaping, enjoying a delicious grilled bagel sandwich, and orzo salad, take home bag of bagels for your family to enjoy your creations, and a copy of all the recipes. YUM!!!

A warm weather meal to be made on the outdoor grill. Don’t heat up the house this summer!!! Come learn how you can grill a yummy whole wheat garlic pizza topped with fresh in-season ingredients. I will share two of my favorites, one being a potato rosemary pizza. We will start the class with grinding Hayden Flour Mills wheat berries into flour. We will use this freshly ground flour, add more fresh ingredients, and make two incredible pizza. We will then make whole wheat parmesan garlic bread sticks to go with all your summer salads. Come taste and learn new recipes to make during the warm summer months. But these recipes are not just for the summer, you can make them all year round. Class includes grinding fresh flour, demonstration of pizza making, hands on bread stick shaping, all recipes, and of course eating everything we create. You will also take home a package of whole wheat garlic pizza crust to get you started. YUM!!

Two summer salads to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites in your family. Using the grill for your meats and potatoes allows all the heat to stay outside and not warm up your home. We will start the class making croutons two different ways. Unused leftover bread stashed in the freezer, will make great bite-size croutons for all your summer salads. A special baguette, made with Hayden Flour Mills Wheat berries, will make mouthwatering Parmesan Cheese Garlic Toast to top salads, use as crackers, or even a distinct way to add an extra layer of crunch to your winter soups. Next, using a liberal amount of flavorful seasonings, we will grill chicken and potatoes for the Caesar Salad. We will then grill our steak and wedged potatoes, using simple seasonings, for the succulent steak salad. Come learn and taste how to add two new salads to your summertime menu. Class includes the demonstration of composing salads, dressings, and croutons, recipes. Feasting on all the creations, and a take-home Whole Wheat Garlic Baguette to get you started on creating your own croutons. YUM!!!
